The recent growth of TOP has spawned a few format questions that we would now like to clear up. It has been a long time since TOP has had 9 rooms or more and there has been some debate on how to proceed in the event of. Mary (Curley Sue) blew the dust off her computer and came up with notes that Melinda sent to her years ago. Melinda provided a format that included 9 rooms. The question on what to do after that has produced several ideas. Lee and I feel that the best format should be as follows.

9rooms=winners & 7 wilds
10rooms=winners & 6 wilds
11rooms=winners & 5 wilds
12rooms=winners & 4 wilds
13rooms=winners & 3 wilds
14rooms=winners & 2 wilds
15rooms=winners & 1 wild
16rooms=winners ONLY

This format guarantees 4 Semis. It also guarantees that the 4 finalist will be winners only from the Semis. By using this format there will be no fourth round and no need to visit the possibility of changing the 200 pt first round game. So until further notice this is the format we will use.

We would like to thank all of you for your ideas and of course since this is the Tournament Of Players we can continue to debate the issue and revise format where necessary. Keep in mind that we would also like to keep the rules as close to Melindas vision for a great tourney as possible.
