Long-term house rental or lease-to-own option

Hello, my name is Ryan Andree, and I recently accepted a position at Galveston Veterinary Clinic and am in the process of looking for a house. I would prefer to buy a home, but since I have been in school for the past few years, I am currently unable, despite good credit. Ideally, I would love to find an owner willing to offer a lease-to-own option since I will be able to purchase something in the next few months; however, I am looking for a 2+ BR home on the water so that my son and I can fish, crab, etc. I am trying to stay below $1700/month, but I am flexible if the owner would be willing to negotiate a lease-to-own option.

We are considering renting our home in tiki island. It is 3-2 — it sits on the water and has a fairly large yard compared to most of the homes in tiki.
