How is that, the top two head honchos get to keep their job after spreading COVID all across the state by transporting inmates across the state during the worst times of COVID? Not only that, but FIVE innocent people lost their lives during the Gonzalo Lopez escape?
Please help me figure out why they still have a job!!

The reason they can't find anyone is... that anyone that could do the job and possibly fix things isn't dumb enough to take over this train wreck therefore we are stuck with Napoleon Collier and do nothing Mendoza running things

Governor Abbott, he appoints the Board that supervises Collier and Mendoza. The board members also donate to Abbott’s campaigns.

That’s the 50 million dollar question, my friend. Not only what you mentioned, but there was an escape from a Beaumont hospital, since the Gonzalo Lopez incident. You’ve also had an employee suicide and an inmate murdered, recently. On top of that, these guys have overseen a record exodus and a staff shortage of over 8,000 bosses. Personally, I think the number is much higher than the 8,000 they claim.
Do they have something on somebody? I don’t know. If they worked in the private sector they never would have been placed in top positions to begin with.
I’ve watched the steady, slow decline of this agency. I first hired on in 1986. The decline begin in the late 90’s and really accelerated over the last 15 years or so. When I first came to work for the state, you had so many bosses, they were stepping in to each other. Lieutenant would walk in to turnout, smile, and say “Who wants to go home? Put your ID cards face down on the table”. He would shuffle them all around and grab two or three of them and say “Y’all get out of here. See y’all on your Monday. The rest of y’all go to work”.
When force needed to be used, it was used. Wardens would hang up on a thugs mother/baby mama/ gay lover, if they called him to complain. Those days are long gone!
