When is someone going to look a the state of the Torres Unit!!! We probably have 75 officers, and yet all activities are in full force. We have had officers assaulted hiding in a cell... why because there is no one to respond. On and ICSs. That's a joke. The supervisors tell staff not to call them because there is no one to repond..or they are hiding in the line building pretending to respond. We arr working 17 hour days 5 to 6 days a week... but not everyone. Privileged COs never seem to get vol told. Isn't there some way to look at that? We give the OT forms to HR. I'm sure they see it. Soon more of us will leave because enough is enough..
What's it going to take to get help.. stop hiring for our neighboring units like dominguez and Briscoe.. someone is going to get seriously hurt. Inmates run out former amazing unit. They expect us to come in and be happy about it when the supervisors don't even report to work!! We get no help from admin kor supervisors but this new warden is sure quick to have us see her for probation.
Someone needs to do something about the hazardous work place we are being allowed to work in. What's it gonna take? A serious incident review for someone to get their head out of their butt??

How do you run a facility with 4-6 officers and refuse to call for assistance from near by units? How do you run chow, rec and so forth and certain supervisors being allowed to tell the CO's to just open the cell doors from the picket with no rover and make it happen or better yet have inmates pick up count sheets, post order folder, cases, etc. Warden walks around talking disrespectful to the little Staff and CO's that are left on the unit and thinking she doesn't have to follow the same policy and conduct herself in a professional manner. Who ever keeps making her bond up in Huntsville should be ashamed of yourself for allowing such a person to continue with the Agency who has zero regard for the safety of Co's, staff and the inmate population. She puts self before service and that's a FACT!

The conditions you described, unfortunately, are in no way unique to your particular unit. What you said could probably apply to any unit. That type of BS, is system wide.
Many of these new wardens have never worn a uniform. No one would ever let their mechanic give them a root canal, but let’s let this classification lady, that was promoted to warden, tell us how to manage these hardcore, violent predators, that live by the law of the jungle. Yeah, that makes sense!! Let’s do that!! That’s real smart!!
I agree with the person that said go to the media. TDCJ HATES negative publicity. KPRC and the Houston Chronicle are two that seem to be quite fond of publicizing the misdeeds of TDCJ. After all, it’s an easy story to write. I mean, how hard do you have to look to find a TDCJ screwup? The reporter can slap that story together in no time and get home in time to catch the kids soccer game. TDCJ has always been low hanging fruit.
Giving the media a tip is easy. Just call your favorite news outlet, ask for a reporter and let them know what’s really going on. Most won’t even ask your name. If they do, just tell them you are in fear of retaliation from your employer and you can’t give your name. Ask me how I know?
A newspaper article about TDCJ, in most cases, won’t bring about any major change, but it sure is entertaining to hear their responses. They are like cockroaches. Shine a light on them and the run for cover!!
