Whenever I’ve needed a job, in my life, the first thing I did was tell friends and family, I was job hunting. That’s how I got my side gig, in a grocery store. The neighbor, next door knew the manager. She was kind enough to call the manager and tell him I dropped off an employment application, the week before. I got a phone call and was hired, that afternoon.
Don’t read too much in to things. People, in every field, get promoted or hired because it’s safer to hire an employee that you at least know, versus a person you know nothing about.
If you want to be a mason, go talk to one. If you like what you hear and they accept you, join. It can’t hurt anything. No, I am not a mason.
