I had to resign because I was moving and quickly. I went to my hr and they said I couldn't be put on the transfer list until I had been at the unit for a year and I had only been there 5 months. They told me to go to the warden and regional director to request a transfer that way and was told that my only two options were 90 miles away and 110 miles away. There is a unit 20 minutes from my new place and I know that they are/ were short. After I was able to I put in my rehire app and after about 6 weeks I got a call from the warden of the unit I had just left with an offer to rehire. I declined because the unit is now 180 miles from home. A couple weeks later I get a letter from HR HQ stating that they were not going to offer me employment and I would have to wait a year from the application date to reapply. I had been with TDCJ for 7 years and was not on probation for a disciplinary. I boarded for 2 Sgt spots and a Lt. position at the unit close by and was basically told by both the Maj. and AW at 2 of the interviews that they would like to select me but it would not happen due to the extended process that would need to occur (I was already a supervisor before I resigned). This was in Feb. before all of the COVID-19 stuff got big. Now I 'm going to be losing the almost 500 sick time hrs that I had on the books and it sucks because I enjojyed my time with the State.
