Re: Corona virus
I've been hearing the same thing recently from my friends who still work for TDCJ. Thank God that I'm fully retired from TDCJ now and don't have to be there anymore to deal with all of that. Thank you for all that you folks do to keep the public safe everyday and I hope for the very best for all of you folks that are still there doing this extremely dangerous job. On another note, the US Army is starting to recall retirees back to active duty to provide assistance and support during this pandemic. Retirees holding critical skill sets such as medical fields, engineer assets, transportation and logistics are facing recall to active duty very soon. In addition to being retired from TDCJ, I am also a retired US Army civil engineer who was recalled to active duty to perform a major role in building up the bases in Iraq and Afghanistan to support the troop surge in those areas between 2007 and 2012. I will more than likely be recalled to active duty once again very soon to do the same type of thing in support of operations against this pandemic. For the last 37 years of US Army and TDCJ service I've always had my war-bag at the ready line and I'm prepared to serve again if necessary.
