Sadly, higher wages and better benefits does not make staff work and harder nor does it make them ethical. If wages were actually on par with State Troopers or Marshall Services then requirements would be at a more advanced level (Degree) and we know that units would still be understaffed. Working conditions and tolerance for staff mistreatment contributes to shortage. Trying to support a family on a barely liveable wage is reason enough to seek employment elsewhere.
