Hi Bert, It's Fr. Jerome. You were kind enough to give me a view of your home lab a number of years ago and I still have the quarter you gave me. What do you think about crushing a graphite disc? I am currently in Glendale Heights, still close by. thanks.

Hi,
We have tried to compress small graphite disks before. Unfortunately, the electrical resistivity is simply too high. This reduces the induced circulating currents in the disk, which reduces the compressive magnetic forces. We weren't able to see any physical effects on the disks.
