Mario, Nearby magnetic and electric RF fields are quite high near an operating Tesla Coil. Ungrounded items, including your body, become energized with RF voltage through electrostatic coupling from the TC top terminal. You may have noticed that you get nipped or stung whenever you barely touch grounded objects with the coil running. Nearby wires often develop considerable RF voltage along their length through magnetic coupling from the primary circuit as well as near-field electromagnetic coupling (antenna effect). The combination can easily result in transients of a thousand volts or more - take your pick as far as which combination of effects ended up biting you. The fact that you're still kickin' says that it probably wasn't a flashover from the primary circuit... :^) Best regards, -- Bert --
