I have my little guys and they did give me a scare when I first got them, not wanting to eat and loosing several grams. Since, I have gotten them eating and 2 are past their arrival weight, one still a little stubborn, but gaining daily or at least maintaining, not quite what she weighed coming in. My species is setifer setosus, the article you sent is about a different species, but I am sure they are not all that different. Euro and African hedgehogs are similar, yet different, so I consider anything I am reading about other species of tennies as helpful, but, unless species specific, I know not to trust things to be absolute. I am enjoying these guys tremendously. They are far more active and comical than the hedgehogs, but not as happy to sit and snuggle as the hedgies. They are a little more difficult, as pets, than hedgehogs, and would not recommend them to anyone unless they have a devotion to exotic animals. These make hedgehogs a piece of cake to maintain. But I love them, and hope that they do well, thrive and reproduce, at least one litter for me. I want to experience and observe them through one pregnancy and litter raising. And I am sure, all babies will stay here to keep me entertained Thanks again for your help in finding me a site. If you find a GOOD one on setifer setosus, please let me know. I am still on line daily looking for more info, but to no avail. I did join a couple of yahoo groups regarding tenrecs, and have daily contact with others with tennies, some the same species I have, which is wonderful. If anyone has tenrecs, the groups are; --Previous Message--
