Advice needed. Hand rearing orphaned lesser hedgehog tenrec

I have been honoured with the task of hand rearing two lesser hedhgehog tenrec, (Echinops telfari). The female died of toxic shock immediately after birth. I am currently giving 4hourly feeds of 2:5:1 esbilac:water:evaporated milk. 1 week on they have both made a weight gain (5.63g & 7.56g after last feed) and are very active. However they both appear to be hungry and are attempting to 'bite' the syringe during feeds. Does anyone have any data/advice regarding the handrearing/weaning/weight etc. Last year I handreared one that had been rejected at about 3 weeks but I was able to observe the female's interaction with the other offspring as a guide, unfortunately this is not an option this time. thanks Karen
