The Meeting Place for Survivors: Post Thyroid Surgery

Thank you so much for all your well wishes. The surgery went well. I am usually a very active person. I was surprised how much it took out of me. It took me about a week to recover.
I went home the same day. I am sure that is a positive sign. I am still waiting for the biopsy results. Hopefully they should be in early this week.
Here is what I have learned. When friends offer to help-Let Them!! Three of my friends stepped forward. I continue to be very thankful for my friend, Phyllis’s help and home. She took care of me and my kitty, lovingly and with no expectations.
It also made me think back on my breast cancer year. I realize how much support my husband and friends gave me. Jim was solid and supported me unconditionally. Since his death I now need to look for that support when going through crisis, small or large, lsewhere in my life. My friends are amazing.

As a side...by staying with Phyllis when I wasn’t my best, bodes well for our upcoming summer trip (2months) to Africa. We have gotten along famously.
