I am being treated for bone mets which was discovered about 2 years ago. My onc prescribed Ibrance, and a couple more oral treatments that I can’t remember the names of the drugs. I was on Ibrance the longest out of the 3 pills, and that was for a year. I am currently on IV chemo called Abraxane. I think my onc was holding off on the “big guns” since the whole process is more involved.
So my point is I think it’s a pretty common practice to start off with pills and then advance to IV. There are tougher side effects but it is a tougher treatment.
So more than likely your friend will get the IV sooner or later.
Love, Karen H.
