I didn't need mastectomy, but many on this site have been through the reconstructive process. I know it is long, and possibly painful, but in the long run, I'm sure you'll be pleased. Just the diagnosis alone is depressing, much less disfigurement. My lumpectomy is also somewhat disfiguring, and in the beginning (8 years ago) whenever I saw the scar, it was difficult. Please know that time is what will ease your anguish. My best advice is to stay busy, remembering that you are extremely fortunate to not need any treatment. If possible, try to find a support group in your area. They can be extremely helpful also. HUGS |
