It has been nearly 5 years being on Anastrozole. My oncologist told me to finish my prescription, and then I don't need to refill it. I know some women on this site have said they had serious side effects from Anastrozole, but fortunately I never did. I did gain about 15 pounds the day I popped my first pill and I have some arthritis in my back, but the weight gain and arthritis were probably going to come anyway at my age.
I am very thankful for the Cancer Center near me, and I wish everyone who has a breast cancer diagnosis would have the positive experience I did. It makes an awful diagnosis so much better. I was treated like I was the only person on the planet with cancer. I never even had to make or coordinate appointments, talk to insurance, or do anything else except concentrate on my own well-being. My team took care of everything and were available 24/7. If I wanted someone to talk me off the ledge at 2 in the morning, someone was always available at the other end of the phone. That person had all of my information right at his or her fingertips.
