This use to be a VERY active group. I don't know where all the gals have gone.
I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma in December 2011. I was offered a lumpectomy with radiation or bilateral mastectomies (BMX) without radiation. I chose the BMX. For some strange reason I was afraid of radiation. I know many gals on here have had radiation and had no problems with it. I didn't want it.
I had the BMX in March 2012 followed by 4 chemotherapy sessions 3 weeks apart. It was difficult but certainly doable.
DO NOT beat yourself up about checking or not checking for lumps, etc. My surgeon said that the cancer is probably not detectable until it's there for 2 years. I had mammograms every 6 months with biopsies. I monitored myself closely and I still had cancer.
Please come back and post your progress. This site really was hopping 6 years ago. I would love to see it come back. It saved me emotionally during my journey.
Hugs,
Roseanne
