I just believe that change needs to take place overall. I know this is not the forum for this, but since you brought it up...
Everyone needs to take responsibility. Police officers have a very difficult job because our young black boys (DEFINITELY NOT ALL) are going to have to stop living what people think about them. They are going to have to stop breaking in houses being caught on video tape with guns robbing and killing each other. White officers are going to have to stop putting everyone in the same category because all black men aren't bad.
When police officers see something that's not protocol, they are going to have to stand up for what's right. They are going to have to stand back as MEN IN BLUE and say, "That's not the way we do things. We don't shoot and kill someone when we have the opportunity restrain them and take them to jail." Every crime is not a death sentence. These people have families who love them. Police officers have families who love them. The whole situation is just absolutely terrible!!!
Now, I'm on my way to my friend's house who live down the street in my subdivision. We are having a Sit & Sip (what ever that is) with the rest of the ladies in my multi-cultured neighborhood. I will be with my immediate neighbor who's Indian, my French neighbor, my Nigerian neighbor and my many white neighbors and we will have a good time because that's America!
I love you Cheryl. Even though we've never me in person, I know you are a good person.
Blessings!
