Hi, Debi. No, dear, you are not along. As Alvita said, there are others who have had your issues. My second BC diagnosis resulted in bilateral mastectomy, expanders, and implants. Implants were fine for 18months until infection developed in side where I had radiation 15 years earlier (first diagnosis). Implant replaced but skin refused to heal. Implant removed to allow skin to rest. The opening drained for months and was somewhat painful. I obtained a breast prosthesis and used it to help me look more normal (socks in my bra didn't work very well). After 6 months(January this year), PS replaced implant and performed latissimus flap (skin and muscle from back). I'm still healing and will have more surgery this summer to relieve scar tissue to allow skin to stretch. The other side is fine and looks fairly normal. Hang in there, Debi! This is a difficult battle we fight every day, but, thanks to God, the technology exists to heal our bodies. HUGS!
