Seeing an oncologist after being diagnosed is pretty standard. You are thinking like I was, I had a lumpectomy with clear margins, no node involvement and no evidence in vascular. Why in the world do I need an oncologist....treatment is over! Not! That was the beginning of several more appointments. I had to see the oncologist and a radiologist. I ended up having chemo and would have needed radiation but I chose to remove both breast. I was 45. I had medullary breast cancer and it's always triple negative.
I don't know what your treatment plan will be because everyone is different but you definitely need to see the oncologist. The good news is, treatment has come a long way and it is very doable.
Blessings to you!
