I also agree because I was suckered into buying this book. I also bought Doctor at Stalingrad which I'm still laboring over, and its at a point where it is just boring. The discriptions seem to melt with previous ones. I can definitely recommend The Forsaken Army by Heinrich Gerlach. This book is a ten and reads very well and has a wealth of info. Weider's Stalingrad; Memories and Assessments is good. He more than underscores his point about his hate for Hitler and the German High Command which he sees as forsaking a whole generation of men as well as their families back home. I think its a great perspective, and should be read by all. Theodores Pliever's book still holds up and gives a great insight to the German troop conditions. More technical would be Tarrant's Stalingrad as well as Beevor's. I purchased the The Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of the Factories which was expensive, however it does contain some interesting facts, but the paper, photos and numerous typoes was very disappointing and lowered the quality of this production. I'm not sure how Death of the Iron Horseman is with its tag price at or above $100. A good all around book is still Enemy at the Gates, by Craig. I still have several other books which isn't listed, but I think these are the top. One other thought, Carell's Hitler Moves East, is a good book and I suspect that his last book on Stalingrad is taken directly from that original with new photos to make it different. If I am wrong would like to know. That's my input, I would enjoy to hear other's experiences with material on Stalingrad, the 6th and 4th Army, and the Russian Armies. Ted
