As important as the small arms ammo was to the defenders on the west bank, the amount expended must have been dwarfed by the weight of shells fired from the east bank. I have no idea how many Katyusha rocket launchers were used on the Stalingrad side of the river, but I assume their fire was limited somewhat by the capacity of the Volga ferries.
