Here's a non-street question that may be easier: There's a famous line, "Rodimtsev's guardsmen fought and died for their Motherland here" which was said to be scratched into the wall of one of Stalingrad's buildings. Now various sources place this in the grain elevator, train station #1, or in a three-story building near the Volga. As I recall the 13th Guards Rifle Division had little or nothing to do with the grain elevator defense (mainly naval infantry), so that seems least likely. The train station was more of a prolonged seesaw battle than a siege, so the building near the Volga seems more likely. Anybody know for sure?
