Philipp Humbert also said he was interviewed by Chukov, who mistook him for Paulus, as he was wearing a fox fur collar coat. Then as the Russians realized Chukov was only interviewing a Lt, the translator suddenly said Philipp was a Lt Colonel, which Philipp described as "an instant promotion!" Philipp was photographed in a hut where the interview took place, (along with 5 other German officers). He gave me a copy of the photo, and while in Volgagrad in 1996, I came across another photo of Philipp and the other 5 officers, but taken at a slightly different angle. Philipp added they were offered fruit, but refused to eat it while being photographed, as they didn't want a photo of them eating "used for propaganda." And recently I have come across another photo of Philipp entering the hut where the interviews took place. If anyone would like a copy of these photos, I can post them to you. Paul.
