Amen to that! Thanks god! If my memory isn't wrong Hoth was the General commanding 4th Panzer Army, right? I do love playing wargames/boardgames, and "Turning Point:Stalingrad" is my favorite game ever. I just finished a play by email game and once again I lost it playing the Soviets... :-(( Well, the game kind of favours the Germans a bit and the Russians can't make one single mistake (I did a couple :-( ) and be extremely lucky with the dice rolls (which I wasn't as usual! Damn I hate those dice :-( ) if they want to have a chance to win the Basic game, from Sept 13 to Sept 19... Anyway, back to 4th Panzer Army: in this game (the game scale is mainly battalions, including regiments and companies) there are no specific 4th Army Panzer units. But the strongest armor units in the game are some battalions part of 24th Division, which attacked the city from the south/southwest. Was 4th Pz Army part of or included into this 24th Division?! Dolf
Well, I'll win next time :-)
Anyway, playing this game really makes me admire General Chuikov (my favorite WWII General, all forces included!) even more! Only a genious could have found a way to hold the city for so long!
I know there was one Panzer Army (or Division?) that reached the north of the city very early, can't remember which one it was!
Damn, I have so many books on the battle but as usual each time I need to find a detail I simply can't find it or remember where such info is or in which book to look for it!
