As many of you know, I have been working on a 3D model of the city of Stalingrad as it appeared in the fall of 1942. With the aid of numerous museums, archives, and private collectors from Russia, Germany, and the USA this project is all coming together. My 3D model is created with 2-foot contour lines from maps of Stalingrad from the 1930’s and 1940’s and I have even fashioned the Volga river bottom from navigational charts I located from same period. The follow sample is of the villages of Spartanovka and Rynok, which are north of the Dzerhezinsky Tractor Factory. Presently, I am making a second pass on the buildings in this sector and should have them in place around the first week of January. No buildings are currently in this view. http://www.fireonthevolga.com/PPP-Stalingrad-demo01_files/slide0001.htm If you double click on the two villages names in the above link, you can download some low-resolution 360 degrees 3D movies of these two areas. Here are some before (Black and White) and after (Colorized) photos of this area in mid August 1942. Each photo is over 54 Mb in size and 61 pictures will be in the final model. I hope you enjoy!
