OK, so is Trump ... and maybe Trump's remarks were a wee bit of a cheap shot ... but the top priority of any President, from his first day in office to his last, should be the defense of this country from threats, both internal and external. The months immediately following the transition from one President to another is a period of particularly heightened vulnerability. Dubya had been warned by the Clinton administration and the intelligence community that the threat of some sort of attack by Al Qaeda was extremely high, and yet he made his #1 priority after taking office the passage of his budget busting tax cuts rather than ensuring that our defenses were on high alert. The result was 9/11.
Trump is a dick, but it makes perfect political sense for him to try to associate Jeb with Dubya every chance he gets. If Jeb was smart, he'd find some other way to respond other than defending Dubya, because every time he does, he does himself no favors.
I look for Jeb and Trump to "Throw Down" at the next GOP debate.
