but the more I thought about it, who knows what they'd do in a situation like that? It you're in a room with a bunch of adults, and an insane person is walking around methodically shooting people in the head, does it make sense for everybody to just sit around meekly and wait their turn, or does it make more sense for everybody to rush the guy knowing that some of them will be shot, but that they're probably going to be able to take the guy down before he shoots everybody. If you think about it, the later choice probably makes the most sense. Think about what might have happened if those brave guys hadn't charged that nutjob on the train in France a couple of months ago. I just hope I'm never in a situation that requires me to make a decision like that. Of course this is America, so unfortunately the likelihood of finding yourself in that sort of situation is much higher than it is anywhere else in the civilized world.
From a political standpoint, it was probably a mistake for Carson to say what he did because it sounds like he's blaming the victims. In reality he was just saying the first thing that popped into his head, which is probably not the smartest thing for a politician to do ... Kevin McCarthy can attest to that.
