I've been reading Dick Winters memoir 'Beyond Band of Brothers'. When he writes about Spiers, the one who took over E Co when Dike was sacked, he refers to him as one of his 'killers'. Meaning someone he could trust to do the killing needed to win the war. This is fine enough but he then goes on to reveal that Spiers shot and killed one of his own sargents in Normandy when the man refused to follow an order! I think this is the first time I have actually come across an actual account of this. I can't remember if Ambrose wrote about it - though it happened in one of the other companies. Has anyone any more info on this? And while on the topic, has anyone come across anything similar? I've read a LOT and this does seem to be the first mention I've found of such an incident.
Thanks
