I don't remember Mom ever wearing an apron. I remember her nurses uniform. Mom hated housework but loved nursing so she would rather pay someone to do the housework and work as a nurse. We didn't mind because when she got home we had all of her attenetion without her having to worry about what needed to be done. She left work when she got pregnant with my sister and didn't go back until she was 5 years old. She did work when I was little but that was wartime so the situation was different. But she worked on a regular basis from the time Vickie was 5. Since her salary was not needed to pay the bills she used it for the little extras we had.
