I am new here so bear with me. Back in Jan 2012, I had a bi-lateral mastectomy with expanders. And then the fun began. Infection after infection in the right breast that had DCIS...and after 15-19 surgeries(lost count)with final being bilateral Lat flap surgeries..I am finally able to hold implants. I have 500cc+ gummy bear implants. My PS was a saint...the initial surgeon, who no longer practices in the states and has since gone back to Canada, made my flaps too thin in the initial mastectomy hence all the issues that followed.
Anyway, fast forward, I just am not happy with the implants, the right one is hard and feels like a soft ball sitting on my chest, the left seems fine. But now with the new information coming out about textured implants and ALCL, I'm wondering if it's possible to even do an SGAP now(with no implants), since I've already done the Lat flap?
I've had the implants for about 3 years and haven't been feeling all that great, and think many of my symptoms are implant/silicone related.
If this is a possible solution to getting rid of the implants and using my own body tissue, do you know of any surgeons in upstate NY who perform the SGAP that I could consult with? I have found Dr. Kristen Rezak at Albany Med online who specializes in microsurgery, and didn't know if you knew anything about her?
Thank you for your time. Looking forward to your response.
