First of all I want to say thank you! Dr. Sullivan performed my surgery and I can't even express my thankfulness! I tell everyone about you! I had stage 1 extended DIEP almost 11 months ago, and my stage 2 six months ago. (I had 33 radiation treatments one year before surgery.) I came having had a left, unilateral mastectomy. I chose a right prophylactic mastectomy at stage 1. I did not have the projection I wanted after stage 1 so I opted for small implants under my flaps in stage 2. I have a couple questions.
One, I have a bad tightness sensation, like a cramping feeling, on my left radiated side, (almost like someone is twisting my tissue) and it causes very severe pain. This is around the axillary region and happens randomly. I haven't noticed anything in particular that seems to aggrivate it. Is this normal, what causes this pain, and can I expect it to get better over time?
Two, when I cough or sneeze, I have a very uncomfortable feeling on my left side, sometimes slightly painful. If I support myself when coughing/sneezing, it seems to be a bit better. I can't always do this if I am at work or in public, therefore I deal with it. Should this also get better over time or could I likely always have these issues?
Thank you so much for your time in answering my questions. I am so thankful for what you and Dr. Sullivan are doing, you guys are my angels!
