Thank you for taking the time to reply. Indeed I was encouraged by it. I am still pondering whether to gamble with the implants, hoping to be in the 40-50% that don't fail in radiated tissue, or take a real deep breath and go with the flap, hoping it will give the best result if done by a very experienced microvas surgeon in my area (NYC).
I read with great interest your paper on the body lift; it would probably be the best recon otion for my overall body habitus. I am conferring with Dr. J. Levine in early Sept since he performs stacked flaps. I will see what he recommends and what his work looks like.
I also searched this message board and found a patient, Marcia Z., who had a bilat IGAP with you in '06 and had a recurrence in the chest wall just above the breast (see May 31, 2012). I don't know if the tumor location was near the IMV dissection site, particularly since you stated elsewhere that you prefer to connect the vessels in the lower xiphoid region, but I wanted to point the case out to you.
My sincerest gratitude to you for maintaining this board and giving so much of your precious time to help us make such difficult choices. You really have impacted many, many lives of women whom you will probably never meet. . .thank you again. MerrellGirl
