I am presently scheduled in February for a bilateral mastectomy and DIEP- I am 5 yrs post CA dx and treatment so no rush presently - 7 weeks after the surgery I have an important event scheduled that I am co-hosting. After reading many recovery stories I am now thinking I should postpone surgery till after the event for fear that I may not be able to wear formal fitted clothing and in the event of a complication may not even be able to attend due to pain or fatigue. Is it reasonable and/or prudent to reschedule and not be stressed to "rush" the healing process? What condition could I expect to be in 7 weeks post op? Thanks- just needed advice before deciding to reschedule. I had my two lumpectomies the same month my daughter married and I remember how stressful that was especially with hoping to get the drains out in time.
