My other half was involved in the IPO of Newcastle FC, & was told he was being sacked before the ipo because otherwise “they’d have to disclose he was a nonce, & that would risk the IPO”.
Presumably he had a record?
I can’t imagine someone telling lies about that in the circumstances & with the scrutiny involved.

Later on was the famous “resting in a lay-by a mile from home” incident.
