...that Fabregas is talking how subs that swap attackers/midfielders for defenders alter the mindset of the team. Tuchel's explanation was that the the mindset of the team was already to sit back prior to those subs (he was imploring them to get ten yards further up the pitch) so he went last ten minutes with the option of bringing on a FB and CD to help them out and stop the crosses coming in. I doubt now that introducing more attacking players would have altered that flinching posture England had gone into.
Also, the subs he did make came with the instruction that O'Reilly and James push on into midfield and not just sit as part of a back 5.
The narrative being created is pure scapegoating. He's right to suggest England didn't have the players to control the ball and kill a game off that way. That midfield duo of Rice and Anderson in particular were a disaster throughout the tournament.
