And you're right, Bayeux is lovely.

and got a membership at the British museum so I could see it over here. If you can get a ticket one way or another I'd highly recommend it (also a trip to Bayeux is well worth it once it returns there, a lovely place)

Been reading a bit around the events of 1066 recently. Harold and the English should've won the battle of Hastings. Gotta suckered into breaking their lines with the French pretending to retreat. Incredible effort from the English after defeating the Vikings at Stanford Bridge just a couple of weeks earlier. Not just beating them, but pretty much wiping them out. That story about the lone Viking on the bridge wanting to take on the entire english army. Killing about 40 soldiers before someone crawled under the bridge and shoved a spear up his arse. Not a phone in sight just people living in the moment
