They go right through this subject in detail Harold ( who I didn't know his mother was a Dane) William the Conqueror, Tostig and the last Viking Harold Hardrada.
They do a great background over the previous 150 years before 1066 and the connections to them all .. the Normans,the Danes, Kings of Norway and the Saxon Kingdoms.
I've always wondered how maybe 1000 mounted cavalry took control of the whole of England without any real resistance.
It's a brilliant series.
Currently listening to their series on how Pizarro conquered the Inca Empire with 30 odd horses and 168 men. Fascinating

Been reading a bit around the events of 1066 recently. Harold and the English should've won the battle of Hastings. Gotta suckered into breaking their lines with the French pretending to retreat. Incredible effort from the English after defeating the Vikings at Stanford Bridge just a couple of weeks earlier. Not just beating them, but pretty much wiping them out. That story about the lone Viking on the bridge wanting to take on the entire english army. Killing about 40 soldiers before someone crawled under the bridge and shoved a spear up his arse. Not a phone in sight just people living in the moment
