Not to mention not punishing Chelsea more harshly as it wouldn’t be fair to punish the new owners.
The whole thing absolutely stinks. If it wasn’t for how much I love the club I could happily walk away from the game altogether.

The (somewhat valid) argument being that, because the points deduction wasn’t dealt with in the season they were relegated, it had an impact on their chances of staying up. But the timing and handling of the case and subsequent deduction isn’t on us - that’s a PL construct. And the argument relies on conjecture that a deduction in that season wouldn’t have galvanised us in the same way it did the following year.
Similarly, the fact that there were no pre-published sanctions / clarity on how penalties should be levied is another mess of the PL’s creation. They were literally making it up as they went along because a) there were no precedents and b) there was no agreement on the range of potential sanctions.
We should be suing the PL, if this stands…just an appallingly run organisation.
