This doesn't diminish his status at the club in any way. Everything comes to an end eventually, and it's beyond doubt that he's made an outstanding contribution over many years as an EFC player.
If he wants to carry on playing for Ireland, then he's best dropping down a division or two and getting more pitch time at a club where his fitness can be monitored and managed to prolong his career for as long as possible.

No-one's doubting his dedication and contribution to the club, but top clubs are ruthless and understand when to stick and when to twist.
Any club with ambition and a desire to win things would have got rid of Coleman some years ago. That's just how top competitive clubs operate. I wish that was more how Everton operate.
The one caveat is IF Coleman had shown a desire to hang up his boots and join the coaching staff, in which case I imagine he'd have been a decent addition to the staff.
But that's not the case, he wants to play on, and we want to move on, so it's best and the most professional solution for all if he leaves.

wants to keep playing for Ireland and there should still be a place for him at Everton even if it's spasmodic. Some of the comments about him on this forum during last season make me cringe. I wish you appreciated Everton like he does.
Greed used to have to put on makeup and sit at the table pretending to be ambition.
Now it gets its own place at the head of the table, beating its chest and demanding more.![]()
