People don’t mean that obviously, they mean it to be from the billionaires, but the problem is that those billionaires can move their money away. So you keep going until you reach the richest group of people that can’t move their money away…and you get to the middle class who then don’t want to vote to lose money.
However there are plenty of millionaires who want to pay tax, more millionaires are created each year than leave the country and, if they do leave, they could be leaving a gap in the market for someone else to become a millionaire.
The world needs come together to tax billionaires so they can’t hoard their wealth overseas. They also need to look into how they achieve their current redistribution of wealth (from everyone to them) and block it off.

Why should people work hard & save up when others think their cash should be taken away & redistributed?
If they agree with that & think it might happen why bother working at all?

I think where i am is..... the system is fucked, its always been grossly unfair and stacked to suit those with money and power, but it just about pulled enough people along, now it's failing to do that. Whatever the solution is, it should involve a massive redistribution of wealth. If it was possible id ban private education. I dont think prison works. We need a radical change, or at least radical new answers to a whole host of problems. That makes me feel of the left. But I think it's hard feeding 8 billion people and there is no blue print, the system is a house of cards, and well intended changes could really fuck things up, I am not convinced by some of the solutions the left propose, i suppose that makes me a centrist?
I've never railed against migration or the nhs. I have said 900,000 net migration a year with no plan is too high, and that chanel crossings are a terrible way to enter the country and we should be trying to stop that. Not sure what I said that made you think I dont support the nhs.

You've railed against immigration, the healthcare system and the welfare state in recent times.
Not chasing an argument, just find it fascinating.
(I'm probably a reviled centrist more than anything, with soft left leanings)

....is spot on about the welfare bill. I am so fucked off with 'my side' the left objecting to any form of welfare support. I see it every day, people signed off for mental health reasons, who rapaidly decline sitting at home all day. I heard a doctor the other day saying how hard it is to diagnose a mental health problem, well if you arent sure of the diagnosis how the fuck can you be sure time off work is the treatment?
Its shows how tribal and pathetic our politics has become, when suggesting leaving milllions of people on benefits is a bad thing, makes you a Tory.
Yes it needs doing sensitivly, and if done right the support sytems needed will mean its not an instant saving, but cutting welfare and getting people back to work (assuming a mix of AI and no growth hasnt killed off the jobs market) has to be the aim, politicians of the left should be able to say this without being shunned.
