He also steps forward occasionally into midfield.
I really would like to see him given a run there, preferably with Branthwaite.

Gets to the half way line, panics when looking for a pass, turns and goes backwards.
I'm not yet convinced he is good enough, even at CB, largely because we haven't seen enough of him there this season, but I'd prefer to see him there than struggling at RB and I'd prefer to see him there over both Keane and Tarkowski.

Tall, quick, athletic players who can play a pass.
Would like to see them play together and see how it works out.

But he's judging elsewhere.
If he replaces him at RB with Garner, our midfield suffers. If he replaces him with Patterson, well, he clearly doesn't rate him at all.
So, he decides leaving the others at CB is less of a drop off than would happen at RB (I massively disagree with him like!)

We all wanted Keane out of the club pre season and were annoyed that he was given a new contract. We all identified him as the weak link in defense.
Yet now all the attention is on Tarkowski.
Neither of them are good enough but I'm sure Moyes agrees with that. The issue is whether O'Brien would be better, and for whatever reason Moyes doesn't want to test that in an actual PL fixture.
But if you want to blame Moyes for Tarkowski becoming our worst CB then at least give him credit for improving Keane's performances!!

Clearly Keane and Tarks are not a great partnership.
I think the record with Obrien at CB is played 6 times, we won 3, drew 2 and lost 1. That loss being against Arsenal. I think we conceded 3 goals in that time too. I might be wrong, this is from memory

Moyes is famed for his teams being hard to beat and dont concede many goals. You'd think Tarks would be the major beneficiary of that.

For what it’s worth I think Garner is not as good as Anderson or Wharton and probably should have spent the end of the season at Right Back.
But if we’re praising Iraola for what he’s done to improve a high intensity box to box midfielder then let’s not forget how much people have raved about “Jimmy G” this season - and give some of that credit to Moyes.

The job Iraola has done with Alex Scott is remarkable. My hot take, Scott is a better all round midfielder than Wharton

And coach them to levels that make them realistic targets for elite clubs.
