Yeah not totally disagreeing, though there have been pockets of decent play (though not many for the whole game).
Again, the point is that I can live with it for now if we're on an upward trajectory. And I still think we are, even if the curve has definitely flattened lately.

The last month or so has been disappointing and frustrating, but overall it has been the league season I expected and hoped for. It is the first season for years that relegation never felt like a threat at any stage. It's our highest points total for 5 years, albeit only marginally. It does feel like progress, and a platform. The cups were a missed opportunity, but the league has felt safe.
Next season and beyond, I definitely want more. The clear objective next season should be a place in Europe and a cup run. And ultimately, we need to be winning trophies. Bumbling along in mid table is not what Everton should be about, but I will take it as a stepping stone this year.
Is Moyes the right man for this? I understand and share some of the doubts but, while we're still progressing, I'm happy to let him carry on. Maybe I'm just being risk averse, but I'm still enjoying the sense of stability and don't feel like rolling the dice yet.

Barry for Beto and Beto for Barry is annoying but the fact is we only have 2 centre forwards in the squad. Some ginger kid is knocking in goals for the u21s but it’s not realistic to pretend he’s being held back from the first team (as opposed to not being ready).
Barry and Beto are similar profiles and weren’t bought to play in a pair. The problem is they are both good at some things, totally shite at others, so we have 2 half decent players to rotate between. I’d rather we had one player much better than the other so that it’s obvious who to start but Moyes has been given a couple of duds.
To progress we need another type of CF or an upgrade. Whatever the manager we need to fix the recruitment first and if we do that why not let Moyes get the benefit?
Who knows why we abandoned a right back search after Tete gibbed us but if Patterson was a Coleman regen I’m certain Moyes would have noticed.
We hired Moyes to do the job he’s done. Season 1 he gets a pass but I’m certain behind the scenes there’s a clear knowledge that we need much better outcomes next season.
And to be honest I’d rather 12th this year and 10th next then sneak into Europe with a fluky 8th and then struggle next year and come 14th. Let’s just write off this season as a platform and setting a floor.
Also, maybe it’s just me but when we’ve been in relegation battles recently we’ve ended each season with euphoria. Last season was the end of Goodison and optimism for a new future at BMD. Season before that we had Bournemouth last day, Palace last home game. We had the derby win, even that run of beating Forest and Brentford at home with McNeil and Gana scoring great goals.
We have become used to ending the season with a massive gushing of relief but don’t start moaning about the alternative - getting off to a good start and then ending with things fizzling out! We were in a European spot in our penultimate match (but as it turns out other teams have since picked up points so that was a false position anyway).
Progress is missing out on Europe as late into the season as possible until we get there. Didn’t happen season 1, let’s go again season 2.
Don’t be a masochist and want to roll the dice just for more thrills and excitement. We know what it’s like to burn through managers and pivot on recruitment every window.
Trust Moyes and I have no doubts we’ll have European footy at HDS soon. Let the grownups do their job. Enjoy the summer and take your mind off Everton.

opportunities squandered, maybe the squad is 10th best or so - fair enough
but it would be nice to over achieve a little, we've wasted a season
I like David Moyes, I think he was absolutely the right person to come back in last year, and when he came back he had a spark about him - but its gone.
But I dont think he is the right man to take us forward
Its not about impatience
Its 30 years of winning fuck all
Its mediocrity
Its going out of cups early without effort - and without the manager seemingly being arsed
Its the refusal to adapt to the modern game and utilise subs
Its going to be hard to replicate our away results next season, which means we'll have to improve massively at home or we'll be back hovering around 15th
I'm not saying bring back Martinez, but god it was good to play without fear for a while
I dont buy into the idea we've played good football this season, we havent. Its just been better than most of the last 3 seasons.
43.6% possession average
Only Wolves, West Ham, Burnley are below us
Even Newcastle have gone above us and they've been shite
best we can hope for next season, is not to be in a relegation battle
wahooo
if next season goes like this we'll be seeing gates closer to 40k than 50k in 12months
'its a two summer project'
its not
its fucking football
its not that complicated
give us a new manager, with a bit of something.
thanks Moyesy, forever a place in history and hearts, but step aside
lets have a fresh outlook and approach
Newsflash, if we beat spurs 4-0, its still a season of missed opportunity - yes there have been some bad decisions against us, but we've also frozen at key times and played with fear - and it comes from the manager, from the approach.
I cant face another season of being a goal down after 70mins and so the answer is Beto for Barry or Barry for Beto
thats genuinely fucking pathetic that its our only plan B
If we fill the squad with a load of 29yr olds+ in the summer, we'll be fucked in 2-3 years, and needing another couple of barren years to dig ourselves out.
Bring me fearlessness, bring me bravery, bring me hope
Be proactive not reactive or passive
We were just starting to look like it could turn with Chelsea, but since then its been shite
last 6 games we are 17th on form
last 12 games we are 16th on form
read that again
last 12 games we are 16th on form
If that was Dyche, I'd be saying get shut, and so would many many others.
Not 'its a 2 summer project'
Time to go Davey
I'm 51.
We've been patient since 1995
