Iraola has done a fantastic job ar Bournemouth but how much of that is player recruitment and how much his management?
I honestly don't know. It's so easy to pick a well performing manager out of a well performing club but you cannot assume it will be replicated.
The last time we managed to successfully make that type of appointment was Silva and even though he's done a good job at Fulham few of us thing it was a mistake to sack him.
Our new owners have now had 1 full season. Some of the technical team only started at the club recently.
I'd only sack the manager and enter a new recruitment process if things were unacceptable and no prospect of improvement. But our current level is about par. So don't hold early season form and good away wins against Moyes.
Whoever our new manager is will need signings and I'd rather give them to Moyes so that he can continue the job we hired him to do.
It's a shame we didn't sign off the season with a win, it's annoying we've not seen evidence of young players offering bright hope but that is progress compared to existential worry about staying in the division.
We've never before had as well respected a team of senior football people at the club. Currently I am of the view we should support them to deliver.
Current expectations:
- Sign a right back early in the window
- Never drop below 15th in the league
- Finish top half and challenge for Europe.
To be honest though being in a European position during the penultimate game of the season is going to be hard to deliver next season.
