I sat in the sun in various empty bars watching Everton go top of the league, sustain that position and knock someone out (West Ham?) of the league cup midweek, and then of course there was Liverpool getting battered 7-2? by Villa whilst I was out there. Tremendous seeing the shock and despair on 'local Kopites' ' faces when that match happened with Everton riding high.
Virtually empty beaches, beautiful sea, wonderful food and wine and Everton the best team in the land, briefly.
It was fekkin' glorious, folks.
Ah well.

To me he made the game simple. eg he told DCL to hold a position between the sticks and the likes of James would get the ball to him. Made him look like Harry Kane for while. It all looked uncomplicated.

OK, we weren’t Rinus Michel’s Ajax, but there was a coherence and a sense of direction in our play, and a sense that players knew their positions and had the freedom to try things, which felt very different from the “do your job” approach we’ve seen so much of in the PL years. And there was a lot going on in terms of squad composition, Covid, and all that, and the burglary, and whatnot. I still maintain that we were lucky to have CA, one of the greatest managers in the history of the sport, and I wish we had had more time and more money with him.
