I think I read something saying that he likes playing RB. Seems well worth a try there.

Merlin seems to have many of the basic skills to fill our problem position of fullback.
He is quick, can tackle and has the added bonus of being tall.
Obviously not sure what his crossing is like but might be worthwhile trying him out there for the remaining fixtures.
