It should rhyme with the 'Merl' bit of his first name. Not making the effort to pronounce people's names properly - as with 'Tar-cow-ski' just drives me mad. As with people referring to our manager as 'Moyles' in his first stint.

There should be enough magic-related possibilities out there for someone creative to come up with a decent song.
