I agree with your stance on our lack of creativity but I also think that a player with stronger all round play than Beto has, better control, passing, movement, pace, hold up and link up play etc would make us a better team and we'd score more as a result.
I think he's done a solid job since he came back into the team regularily and is getting more goals now too but whilst I agree that just reaplcing the striker won't solve all of our problems, we are clearly lacking in that area of the pitch in terms of options and we need better if we are going to push on from being a 9th-14th bracket team.

Beto/Barry combined have scored 14 non penalty league goals this season in 3032 mins
Barry and Beto's own Xg is just less than the 14 league goals that they have scored
Our chance creation is poor not helped by non attacking full backs

But the only tiny possibility we have is if we go early and we go high (fee, wages etc) - of course even if we were able to pull that off (low probability) he'd probably go the world cup and snap all his ligaments!
Otherwise, fuck knows, hopefully the expensive group of super experts we have assembled, coupled with our aquired data business will actually unearth something more useful than past.
I imagine very few people will move before the World Cup and if they do it will be big signings for those clubs at the top of the food chain (Champions League big hitters like PSG, Madrid etc) so its going to be another nervy, potentially frustrating, long drawn out summer.
Our goalposts have moved, we are a more attractive proposition than we have been for a long time, especially if we do make Europe so we will have to wait and see if that plays out with more successful attraction of talented players or not.
