for playing poorly - because an excuse is exactly what it is. It's all part of the "this means more" mythology - his team-mates were not just colleagues but more like brothers. A bond so strong that it rendered most of them incapable of doing their jobs properly months later. Except when they won games, when they were seemingly unaffected.

Its also true that
Wirtz, Frimpong, Kerkez, Isak, Ekitike, Marmadashvili
Weren't at the club when Jota was. And bar the odd flash, havent done much this season.
Ive no doubt it plays on the players minds from tine to time. But players of all clubs lose family members and friends. Ive been shot down by a few reds when I said its disrespectful to bring Jota up every tine they lose. But also a few reds have agreed with me.
They are on the slide, they are still decent, I mean they are 5th. But they are trending down.

I agree it's truly brutal, to lose someone you saw every day, and was your mate & colleague. It'll affect everyone differently, was probably very distressing to the youngest in the squad.
But I'm also sure we've all lost loved ones. My Dad was the greatest fella to walk the earth. I took two days off work, I cried regularly, but I had to get on with it, as he'd want me to.
And whilst I still miss him every day, I can't use it as an excuse for doing a shit job months later.
Also, as others have said, was it not affecting them when they were on an unbeaten run?

But, I do think it must have affected them. I would be an extremely fucked up if I lost a close friend who you saw every day.
There’s many reasons they aren’t good this season, but Jota’s death is certainly one of them. It’s tough dealing with that.

Been out and only seen the score and just heard a snippet on talksport.
So can anyone expand on this.
Did the tragedy suddenly kick in and they walked off the pitch to pay their respects?
Was the plan for him to be converted into a world class centre half this season if he had survived his high speed crash that took him and his brothers life
Is it because they are the redshite and ‘it means more’ ?
