It's in the Cyclades, around a 3 hour ferry ride from Athens/Piraeus

Because there are no direct flights, it has not been overrun with mass tourism. There is still a traditional side to the island with old farmers riding on donkeys, saint's day festivals outside the churches and amazing traditional tavernas but also some really cool modern Greek restaurants, bars and boutique hotels. We've got to know quite a lot of locals over the years which has made it all the more rewarding. There aren't many Brits there - the biggest foreign tourist group are the French - and not a huge amount of nightlife but it's perfect for couples and families. It's getting more popular now, particularly with Americans, and more expensive but as long as there's no airport, t should still keep its magic.
